Is it Free?
The software is free (get it now) to download. It does provide an optional premium
subscription that opens up access to the weather widget, tides, and unique types of
widgets, but without investing any money, it is still very available.
Popularity
Its versatility is the reason Widgetsmith has become such a common tool for iOS 14
home screens. The exact look you want can be curated with precise images and colour
schemes. The user went all in with various colour schemes in this example and sorted
their icons on different colour pages. Then, she was able to add decorative elements
with Widgetsmith.
Timed Widgets
Color Theming
This is the most versatile aspect of Widgetsmith, maybe. Although its widgets are
easy to see at first glance, the ability to select your own personal background
and border colours ensures that you can organise the perfect look for your home
screen.

How to Set up a Basic
Widgetsmith Widget
How to build widgets with Widgetsmith is illustrated in the following steps. Although
you might choose to build a different widget, the process is essentially the same, with
visual choices presented at each point of the process slightly different.
Before following these steps, download the Widgetsmith from the App Store.
- 1.Open the Widgetsmith app.
- 2.Choose whether you want to make a Small Widget, Medium Widget,
- or Large Widget. To make a brand new widget in addition to the preset
- calendar widget, select Add... Widget for your chosen size. In this case,
- we are editing the preset calendar widget. To change the preset calendar
- widget of your chosen size, select it.
- 3.Select Default Widget. To make the widget appear at a scheduled
- time, simply tap Timed Widget instead of Default Widget.
How to Customize Widget
Font and Colors
- 1.Under Style, scroll through the list and select the widget of your choice.
- 2.Select the Font bar toward the bottom of the screen. Note that
- depending on the widget you chose, the option bars may be different.
- 3.Under Font, scroll through the list and select a font.
- 4.Select the Tint Color bar toward the bottom of the screen. Again, your
- option bars may be slightly different.
- 5.Under Tint Color, scroll through the list and select a tint.
- 6.Select the Background Color bar toward the bottom of the screen.
- 7.Under Background Color, scroll through the list and select a
- background color.
- 8.Tap the back arrow in the top left corner.
- 9.Tap Save.
- 10.Return to the home screen.
Our final product:
Connect the widget of your chosen size from Widgetsmith to your home
screen and drag it to your desired position if you have not already done so.
You may need to hold down the widget, tap Edit Widget, and then pick the
correct widget if you've created several widget in widgetsmith.
