AirPods Pro Crackling/Rattling Issues: Troubleshooting
When something triggers the earbud to shift or vibrate, the sound happens, such as when a person walks, runs, taps with a finger on the affected earbud, turns his head, nods, or plays music with a lot of bass. What it sounds like is mentioned by a MacRumors reader:
It's also described as sounding like something inside the APP earbud has come loose. Many people seem to think that the external microphone is actually a problem: it seems to pick up tiny noises as sound and then try to "cancel" (in Noise Cancellation mode) or enhance (in Transparency mode) these sounds (which do not actually exist), causing the rattling-style noise to be played by the APP. Whether this is the actual cause or not I don't know.
Although it has been suggested that it is a hardware issue, Apple seems to assume that it may be focused on wireless interference or a particular app, and recommends that individuals who hear crackling sounds follow these steps:
- Ensure that the new software is updated on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac that is related.
- Check that the linked computer is nearby and there is no wireless interference between you and the device or obstructions.
- To see if the app triggers the problem, listen to audio from a separate app.
AirPods Pro Service Program
To fix a problem that causes certain AirPods Pro models to exhibit sound problems such as crackling or static or defective Active Noise Cancellation, Apple introduced a repair programme for AirPods Pro.
Affected models have static or crackling noises that increase in noisy situations such as motion or phone communication, or Active Noise Cancellation that does not work properly with bass loss , increased background sound, or street or aeroplane noise..
Before October 2020, the defective AirPods Pro models were made, and those who are having problems can take the AirPods Pro to Apple for service at no charge. AirPods Pro will be tested to check that they are qualified for the programme before service..
