Troubleshooting AirPods Pro Noise Cancellation
Some owners of AirPods Pro have run into problems with their earbuds, and after software upgrades, there have been several concerns about Active Noise Cancellation failing to operate properly or being degraded. This guide covers the issue and offers Apple's recommended troubleshooting measures as a possible remedy.
There have been concerns about Active Noise Cancellation issues since the launch of the 2B588 firmware for the 'AirPods Pro' in November 2019, which some claim has gotten worse with each firmware update.
This is not an issue faced by all consumers, but the affected individuals assume that since launch, the Active Noise Cancellation properties of the AirPods Pro have been downgraded.
The latest version of the firmware of AirPods Pro is 2D15, and there have been conflicting reviews on whether the update solves the issue, as some individuals report enhanced Noise Cancellation and others indicate that there has been no improvement.
Instead of firmware causing the issue, Apple indicated that earwax buildup could be the issue, with Apple making the following suggestions as a solution:
- Make sure you run the new apps from Apple on all your iPhone , iPad, iPod touch, and Mac computers.
- Make sure Active Noise Cancellation is allowed by opening the Control Center and long pressing on the volume indicator when the AirPods Pro is in the ears
- Clean the mesh at the top of the 'AirPods Pro'.
Contact Apple Support
If AirPods Pro Noise Cancellation issues continue after following the above measures, Apple suggests that owners of AirPods Pro can contact Apple Support for more assistance.
