2021's Best Adult Electric Scooter: Get around on these top scooters

(Pocket-lint) - There are hybrid scooters in vogue, or scooters. You're unlikely to miss this, considering that the streets of many capital cities waiting for visitors to jump on for a faster way around have exploded into popularity around the world and are now littering.
Those rental scooters, of course, are just one part of the industry. Many people buy their own scooters, when it becomes obvious that without having to pedal themselves, they can be a very convenient way to get around towns and take up less space than a bike.
They're not always worldwide road-legal (in the UK there are a couple more barriers to clear), but if you're allowed them where you're like in the US, here are some of the best ones to consider picking up for your commute.
Our pick of the best electric scooters to buy today
Xiaomi M365

We're happy to go out on a limb and say you've probably seen a few of these around your city's streets—even in London, where they're not yet supposed to be in widespread usage, Xiaomi's scooter is a fairly popular sight. That's thanks to its excellent reputation, which is well earned, in no small part.
With an impressive 28 KM range and very zippy speed, this is a great scooter and is also well-priced in a market that can get up to fairly dizzying price tags. It might not be the swankiest-looking or most stylish scooter, but it will end up being the best choice for most people.
Gotrax GXL V2 Commuter

Gotrax is not yet as well-known a name outside the scooter world as Xiaomi, but over the last few years it has been developing a loyal following with reliable scooters that are reasonably priced as usual. In fact, most of the models on this list are actively undercut by pricing, a great thing from the perspective of a buyer.
That nets you a slightly shorter range at 24 KM, but for most people that's still going to be more than enough, and you still get a good, well-built unit anyway. For storage, it folds up neatly and comes as a great choice for those with smaller budgets.
Turboant X7
Earlier this year, we tried the Turboant and were very pleased - it's got a range that's almost the same as the GoTrax above, and a style that fits into the looks department with many other e-scooters.
As with several other models, we think you're going to find yourself giving it a little bit of help on some hills, as its engine isn't exactly a world-beater, but you'll definitely find it a great partner when zipping around your town or area. A removable battery is also a nice touch, which makes charging easier without needing to locate the whole scooter anywhere.
Ninebot Segway

The entrance into the e-scooter market by Segway is as remarkable as you would expect from a business that has made its name on two-wheeled electric, rolling transport (a Segway needs to be better represented, but we can't find it). It's a sleek kit that is beautifully and firmly put together and manages pretty good speeds as well.
Compared to some of the scooters on this list, it's not quite a winner on the pricing front, of course, but it's also got a stonking range to take advantage of - that sees it nail a good balance from our point of view.
Unagi Model One

In our view, Unagi's scooters are definitely the swishest on the market, the best-designed and most stylish, which says something as we are still at the stage where most scooters are fairly chunky beasts.
However, the Model One is pretty stunning, in whatever colour you choose, and has the specs to fit its looks, available in single or double-motor shapes, but there is no relief from its huge, large price tag.
