A Thicker UTG, AES Digitizer and S-Pen will be available for Galaxy Z Fold 3
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 can use thicker glass so that it can comfortably support the S-Pen
The study suggests that Samsung is looking into the use of AES (Active Electrostatic Solution) digitizer technology on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for those who are wondering, which will effectively allow the company to bring the S-Pen to the Fold 3. That is not all that Samsung is planning on doing, however. The article continues and talks about how Samsung is also trying to make the UTG a little thicker so that without scratching and possibly cracking, it can easily withstand the tip of the S-Pen.
This is not the first time we hear about how Samsung wants to add the S-Pen to the Fold series as reports have already begun to fly earlier, but the Fold 2 had to launch without an S-Pen because of the technological limitations.
Now it is important to know that the Galaxy Note series uses the S-Pen digitizer EMR (Electro-Magnetic Resonance) that ships with the Galaxy Note units, but it is also important to know that it is very rigid to bring EMR into a foldable device.
Both have their pros and cons as far as both technologies are concerned, with the AES usually providing better overall efficiency at the expense of production costs, as well. The best part, however is that the AES would be able to completely use the foldable design put forward by Samsung.
Being a long-time Samsung consumer and a fan of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, I do hope that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is everything we've wished for and more.
