Adobe Illustrator is now available with Apple Pencil support on your iPad

Adobe Illustrator for iPad

After its unveiling in November 2019, Adobe Illustrator is finally available on the iPad. The app has been undergoing testing for some time, and is now available to all subscribers of Creative Cloud.

Illustrator is Adobe's second technical app, after Photoshop for iPad, to be completely reimagined for multi-touch and Apple Pencil. Despite the lackluster feedback for the initial iPad release of Photoshop, Adobe continued to work on improving it along with Illustrator, which uses a similar user interface.

When using the Apple Pencil, Illustrator has a basic yet intuitive user interface that stays out of the way, but gives access to all resources with just a tap away. Complex instruments for accurate drawing, shape formation, path tracing, outlining, and much more are behind the streamlined gui. You can take full advantage of the capabilities offered by Illustrator with ink, pencil, brushes, and more if you have an Apple Pencil.

Here are the complete release notes for Illustrator for iPad:

Illustrator is not a completely featured update yet, much like the initial release of Photoshop for iPad. Over time, Adobe is working to add new functionality that will include new brushes, effects, and support for Adobe Sensei. Adobe has a very fascinating look behind the scenes at the Illustrator for iPad redesign process.

Be prepared to purchase a Creative Cloud subscription that costs $9.99 per month if you are interested in using Adobe Illustrator on your iPad.
