Android Spotify now allows you to log in using Google Account
In view of the demise of Google Play Music, Spotify took the opportunity and decided to make it easier for Google account users to sign up. The music streaming app is now going to let you use your Google account to login to use Spotify for those who want to start using Spotify today. A function that was inaccessible beforehand.
For anyone who is on an Android phone or tablet, the functionality is available. All you have to do is download Spotify from the Play Store, open the app, and your Google account will allow you to sign in. If you don't want to do that, however you can sign in with your existing Spotify account or you can do so via Facebook.
For Android users, Spotify makes it easier to sign up using their Google accounts.
In the past 24 hours, the function has become widely available and will continue to roll out on a larger scale as well. You will now have one less password to think about with the option to login using a Google account. However, aside from a little added protection, you do not get any additional benefits at the time of writing, but that is about it.
Another important thing you should note here is that the functionality is only available on Android, or Spotify's web edition, right now. That means it's not available on iOS or the Windows client, however we expect that this feature will be added later on by Spotify.
Overall I believe that Spotify is definitely a step in the right direction, particularly for people who do not prefer to have multiple accounts and remember various passwords, including support for Google accounts.
