Best 13-inch MacBook cases 2021: Protect your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air

(Pocket-lint) - MacBooks from Apple are some of the world's most popular laptops, their silvery designs and Apple logos spread around abandoned offices, libraries, schools and homes.
They're nice machines, but they're pretty expensive too so chances are that when you're on the move, you don't want to just toss them in your bag with whatever else is in there. Thankfully, their regular 13-inch size (for the usual MacBook Pro and MacBook Air) means that as far as cases are concerned, there are numerous choices out there.
Setting aside other size options for now, such as the massive 16-inch Macbook Pro, we have collected some of the best 13-inch Macbook cases available right now.
Our pick of the best 13-inch MacBook cases to buy today
Twelve South Journal

The stylish, classy leather sleeve of Twelve South is actually our go-to case, keeping our MacBook Air safe and sound whether we just store it away for the evening or take it on a ride. It's a fun low-profile case, but the materials are surprisingly high quality, and in a bag it doesn't take up too much space at all.
Plus, there's a canny little pocket to store a few extra pages of paper you may have later on for the meeting, a nice touch. It's not one for those individuals who want to get all their accessories in the case as well but it's great for you if you want a sleek look and want some quality materials.
JETech Laptop Sleeve

We know that as desirable as it is for a laptop case, the Twelve South sleeve is a little expensive - luckily, if you're on a tighter budget, that's not important. This JETech case is excellent value, and while it won't inherently give you style points, its security is excellent.
To keep your laptop secured, there are oodles of cushioning here and a spacious front pocket means you have room for charging cables, earbuds or whatever else you want to bring with you.
Woolnut Leather & Wool Sleeve

Simplicity is often everything you want, and that message was heard loud and clear by the Swedish company Woolnut. It has a beautifully pared-back laptop sleeve, just a snug leather cover to slide your computer vertically, but it is made with obvious care and accuracy.
Apple Leather Sleeve

Although it jumps back to the other end of the price scale, when combined with its laptops, there's no denying that Apple's own leather sleeves are superb. This is the definition of sleek, and while this subtle blue is our favourite, there are several colours to fit your style.
It's a slipcase, so there's no fussing about zippers or something while your laptop will be snug and tidy with an internal microfibre lining. There may not be affordability, but this is a superb example.
Incase Textured Hardshell Case

Apple sells via the Apple Store a variety of Incase hardshell snap-on cases, and this delightful textured option, which obscures the Apple logo on your Macbook but gives your computer a unique look, is our personal favourite.
It is textured with Woolenex and is very resistant to dings and scratches, and to keep your computer clean, it repels moisture and odour. There are clear and semi-clouded plastic choices instead if you prefer, though.
Moshi iGlaze Hardshell Case

If you fancy a hardshell case, Moshi offers another great choice, with a clip-on design and a few colours to choose from. It's in the same ballpark as Incase's price-wise options, but with slightly different finishes, so in terms of your choice, it's all down to your taste.
We prefer this Stealth Black finish, which gives a more low-key look to your MacBook and has a matte finish that we like for its grip and fingerprint-repellent character.
Speck SmartShell

Our final hardshell case is very similar to that of Moshi, but it is slightly undercut by Speck's price. It's a comfortable little case that clips on as you would imagine, and has amazing grip strength to make sure it never suddenly falls off. This might be a great option if you want a slightly cheaper case.
