Best laptop stands in 2021: With these laptop raisers, lift your working comfort

(Pocket-lint) - You'll probably draw the same conclusion as us soon enough if you work from home - a laptop can be a great working tool, but sometimes it can get old looking down at it.

A laptop stand can be a perfect way to make your machine a better part of your work setup or home office, whether it's neck pain or just a desk that you can't get genuinely ergonomic, or whether your laptop sits next to an external monitor at a slightly different height.

It could be great for your neck and great for your efficiency to lift the display, so we've gathered some of the very best laptop stands right here on the market.

Our pick of the best laptop stands to buy today

Twelve South Curve

Twelve South is one of our favourite businesses, manufacturing a number of useful accessories such as stands, chargers and more, and one of its very best is the Curve. As far as we are concerned, this is easily the most beautiful laptop stand on the market and has been used very happily by more than one person in our team for years.

As its name suggests, it's a single piece of machined metal, curved and providing a base to rest your laptop on. To keep your machine in place, it has anti-slip arms that end in soft, almost invisible hooks, and is perfect for added ventilation, too. Adjustability is the only region in which it loses out. You need to add something else to the mix, if you want additional height.

Nexstand K2

The minimalist approach to a stand was taken by Nexstand, with superb results. When stored, its frame-like stands fold out from a thin column, and the K2 is enormously useful in particular. It firmly keeps your laptop in place and is easily adjusted to let you determine how much height you want to achieve.

The stands are very well-constructed and sturdy, albeit made of plastic, and being able to store them much more conveniently makes them perfect for travelling and working on the go. They may not be the best-looking, but the most helpful stands around are these. The K7 stand is a great second choice, too, if you have a smaller laptop, want an even more compact option, and don't need as much elevation.

AmazonBasics Laptop Stand

Amazon is getting better and better at stepping in and offering low-cost alternatives for goods that consumers need and if you want to pay less without losing too much, its place is a good option. Brutally speaking, it's ugly, but to keep your laptop going comfortably, it has ventilation and lets you pick how high you want to lift it.

It also folds down flat, but in terms of storage, it is not really comparable to Nexstand's efforts. Nevertheless, if you want to update your laptop without breaking the bank, this is a decent alternative.

Moft

Moft's small kickstand sticks to the underside of your laptop, adding almost no bulk to it an alternative for those who want to be able to lift their monitor wherever they are without digging something out of their pocket to unfold. Then it can fold out to have a stand when you need it.

If you just want a little elevation and don't want an external device to drag around, this makes it perfect, even if it comes with the obvious downside or having minimal height choices and having to get it stuck on your desktop. It's not quite as clean as getting an unadorned device, we suppose, even though it may not be visible to some.

Rain Design mStand360

Our final option, the mStand360 of Rain Design, is most like the stand of Twelve South, in that it is a fixed-height stand that looks fairly vague when put against the design of your laptop, whether it is a modern MacBook or a PC. With the added advantage of a swivel device that makes it easy to switch the monitor without having to move the whole machine, it's a solid ledge to position your laptop on.

Although it's not quite as trendy or indeed as adaptable as some on this list, it's a solidly-made piece of kit, and its reasonably high price is also a consideration. Still, if you like the look of brushed aluminium, this might be a solid desk choice.
