Confirmed arrival of AirPods Pro 2, 3rd-Generation AirPods in 2021, likely alongside AirPods Studio

 


Apple is said to be designing two new versions of AirPods for 2021. The second-generation AirPods Pro will be one of them, according to a new survey, and will eventually replace the original, with the third-generation AirPods being the second pair. As the AirPods Studio has been postponed, alongside its premium over-ear headphones, it is possible for Apple to launch the latest models.



Like the AirPods Pro, new third-generation AirPods could be treated to a more compact design

Two new models of AirPods arriving in 2021 are listed in a new report from Bloomberg. The latest models could be released alongside a new version of the HomePod, as well as the AirPods Studio, the second-generation AirPods Pro, which we'll refer to as the AirPods Pro 2 for now, and the third-generation AirPods as the AirPods 3.The AirPods Pro 2 is said to fetch the same $249 launch price as the original AirPods Pro, according to a tipster, but reports that the newer edition would only have modest upgrades over its predecessor.

Apple apparently is exploring a way to make these more compact by removing the short stem that sticks out from the bottom of the original, coming to the rumoured version of the AirPods Pro 2, and could even provide potential owners with a rounded shape that naturally fills your ears.

If you are more interested in the design of AirPods 3, previous rumours have suggested that they would follow a design similar to the AirPods Pro, suggesting that thanks to sporting a complex SiP while offering more functionality in exchange, they could become more lightweight than the second-generation AirPods. In short, these could be the rumoured AirPods Pro Lite we've been listening to for a few months now, but if there are any rumours talking about any improvements to Apple's plans, we'll continue to update our readers in the future.

These were expected to go into production weeks ago for the AirPods Studio, but since there were rumour talking about headband issues, Apple is said to have postponed them. Although Apple may announce the AirPods Studio this year in 2021, the tech giant may only make them available to customers. The earliest release timeline of the AirPods Pro 2 is Q4, 2021, according to a previous rumour, so if that's accurate, we'll also see the remainder of Apple's audio products around that timeframe, unless the date changes, so stay tuned.
