Snapdragon 888 Galaxy S21 Earns FCC Certification

As we keep hearing more and more about devices every day the Galaxy S21 family is approaching its launch. Yesterday, the official Samsung promo reels were leaked, showcasing all three devices in various colorways and also confirming a lot of our suspicions. We also confirm that any charger or earphones in the box will not be shipped with these phones.

The latest bit of data we have in our hands, however, points to the fact that the Galaxy S21 series is likely going to be launched with the Snapdragon 888, at least in certain regions. Samsung was absent from the companies that would release a phone with the new chip when Qualcomm officially unveiled the Snapdragon 888. Still because the FCC certification proves otherwise it seems that is not going to happen.

Snapdragon 888 can be located in the U.S. and a few other regions of Galaxy S21.

The validation comes in the form of a certification from the FCC, which shows more than just the fact that under the hood you get Snapdragon 888. Below you can look at the credential.

The documentation refers to a computer that uses the SM8350 chipset, which is basically the Snapdragon 888 codename. So in some countries, you get that variant, while the other markets will get the versions of Exynos 2100, and we are looking forward to seeing how each of these will compare against each other.

In addition to that the certification also shows that mmWave 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and 9W reverse wireless charging will appear on the Galaxy S21. The battery of the Galaxy S21 is also mentioned; the document does not however, include the capacity. But a previous leak has confirmed that it will have a battery of 4,000 mAh.

The interesting bit here is that the charger with model number EP-TA800 is also confirmed by FCC certification. Nevertheless, we can not be sure if the charger in the box will be included by Samsung since a previous article suggests that it will not happen.

Whatever the case may be, 14 January 2021 is the rumoured date for an official announcement, so we're excited to see what Samsung has for us in stores.
