Sporting Snapdragon 888's Galaxy S21 Shows Up on Geekbench
The Galaxy S21 series is getting closer to the official announcement of the launch, and we are getting more and more exciting information about the devices to be launched from our hands. So far everything from renderers to case designs has been leaked.
But the leak today is interesting because we're looking at the Galaxy S21, but it's rocking a Snapdragon 888 along with eight RAM gigs this time around. So, we might be seeing another version with greater RAM power, too.
Samsung Will Use Snapdragon 888 in the Galaxy S21 After All
This came as a surprise because Samsung was absent from the list of companies that would announce smartphones with the new chipset when Qualcomm officially launched the Snapdragon 888. That led many to believe that this time around, Samsung would stick to a single chip, but that has changed based on the latest Geekbench finding. You can see the following screenshot, courtesy of Sam Mobile.
The chipset here is called Lahaina, which is also the Snapdragon 888 codename, and SM-G991U is the model number for the Galaxy S21. The listing reveals that the chipset is rocking and operating Android 11 with an octa-core processor with a base clock of 1.8 GHz and 8 gigs of RAM along with it. In the single-core test, the computer scored 1,075 points, and in the multi-core CPU test, 2,916 points.
It is said to carry a 6.2-inch AMOLED monitor, FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader, as far as the Galaxy S21 is concerned, in general. Both the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 models will be sold. The upcoming handset, along with a micro SD card slot for memory expansion, could also be offered in 8/128GB and 12/256GB versions.
In January, the Galaxy S21 series is scheduled to become official, with preorders beginning the same month. At the same case, Samsung is also announcing the Galaxy Buds Pro, so for those looking forward to upgrading, now is your time to start dreaming.
