The MagSafe Charger from Apple will charge any Android phone wirelessly, but will not connect to all
Apple recently unveiled a boatload of new updates to its newest iPhone models. Although the highlight of the event was the 5G and camera, Apple also brought back MagSafe with the iPhone 12 range, enabling users to mount all sorts of mobile accessories. Apple announced MagSafe cases, chargers and a wallet at the event. While it works best for the iPhone 12 models, any Android phone can use the MagSafe charger, but there is a caveat.
MagSafe Charger can connect to some Android phones, but almost all of them will be charged.
The MagSafe charger provides several improvements over the iPhone's standard Q wireless charging mats. It attaches to the back of your iPhone and remains there for one thing, allowing you to use your phone when charged wirelessly. Since the MagSafe charger is, after all a Qi wireless charger, it can also be used when positioned correctly to charge Android phones.

The MagSafe charger is able to offer charging speeds of up to 15W on the latest iPhone 12 models. Thanks to the mechanics of binding to the iPhone magnetically, this is it. A MagSafe charger, however is able to deliver 7.5W of power on Android devices. What this means is that every other Android device would be able to charge the Apple charger just fine. However the MagSafe charger would not connect to them because these phones do not have an array of magnets arranged in concentric circles such as the iPhone.
Notice that the MagSafe charger has connected itself to the battery on some Android phones, but we should make sure that the magnetic link is not good enough. The MagSafe charger was magnetically attached by Ben Sin of ZolloTech with the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the Galaxy S20 FE, and the Pixel 5. With the coil underneath the MagSafe charger focuses itself and begins charging. As described earlier, as with the iPhone 12, the magnetic connection will not be solid.
If you have an Android phone and want faster charging speeds, we would not suggest buying a dedicated MagSafe charger from Apple. For $39.99, the MagSafe charger is available and you'll need to buy a $19 20W power adapter with it. We have also figured out that when you have Apple's MagSafe Wallet attached, you can't charge your iPhone 12 wirelessly.
